Now I might be wrong which won’t be a first time but isn’t the biblical age of consent set to 13 years of age? So if Mister Toews and his puppett master Stephen Harper are so religious why are they raising the age of consent from 14 to 16 in Canada? ( 365 Gay Story ) Kind of shows me that Mister Harper and his puppett Vic Toews who are vehementallly opposed to equal rights for gays are kind of not the true blue religious folk they claim to be in all their election ads.
If the biblical age of consent is truly 13, then why do they support a raise in the Canadian age of consent from 16 upwards instead of lowering it? I mean doesn’t the bible apply to all areas or just specific one’s that oppose the gay life?
Come on Mr Harper talk with a straight tongue for a second and tell us the truth? Is this just one more step of appeasement for George Bush and the right wing religious nuts of the United States?

So again I ask, is what the bible says only when it applies to gays or not?
Frankly I tend to agree that 14 is a bit young but then too I do agree with the opponents that in essence this is not a burning issue nor is it really a fix to the problem as outlined by the Tories who are merely playing politics as usual.
Sue Barnes, Liberal justice critic, said the age of consent _or age of protection, as the Tories prefer to call it _- is not an issue that has her constituents calling. The former Liberal government decided against raising the age after studying it, in part because of other existing protections.( 365Gay story )
I suppose that with the mess up over at myspace.com the Tories are again showing that they plan to govern by proxy rather than by actual issues. In short they have no plan but will react as needed.
Is this truly how we wish to be governed?
