So went and had my CT Scan this morning. Now frankly I have to admit that it had me worried. I had no idea what to expect. I hate getting undressed or such but there wasn’t any need to fret. Seems that all one does is go into this huge room, lay down on a metal table and close the eyes and 5 minutes later go home.
Would have been nice if I had known that before!
There is the rub. Frankly it comes back down to ‘communication’ or lack thereof. I mean so much worry & stress could easily have been eliminated by a few extra seconds by either the doctor or the booking receptionist. Seriously, how long does it take to say to a patient, no cause for alarm, you are simply gonna have your brain x-rayed by a machine without any fuss or muss.
The Technician was good but it makes me wonder at why some simple prior communications couldn’t make their job easier. I mean for example don’t have loose items in your shirt pocket cause they will fall out. Stuff like that would make it go smoother and will less concern too.
So now the waiting game begins anew.
Again wouldn’t it make simple sense to say to a patient that the results will be forwarded to the Doctor in x days. I mean why leave it so ambiguous? Is it to keep lay people unaware of the mysteries of medicine? Dumb really because you are supposed to be stress free. Hard to do when you know absolutely nothing. Fine for a repeat visitor but not me.
Isn’t the whole idea of medicine to be to help a person who is ill? Not add to their problems? Seems to me that someone needs to better explain things at the outset so the worry factor is minimalized or does that even matter?
Well now we wait to see what the results are. Hopefully our family doctor will be in touch soon enough otherwise won’t know till the 14th but still, again we wait not knowing. It is a bit unsettling but I suppose one gets used to it. Not like we have a choice now is there?
