or was he?
Okay so President Bush is in Russia at the G8 conference and once more the keystone yanks are caught with their pants down. Or in this case with the microphone on. First we had Secretary of State Rice and now the President himself. Don’t want to seem paranoid but you would think once was enough or is this really about what was said or that it was said? ( USA Today Story )
Given the low approval ratings and the disappointment of his job perfermance by even hard core Republican supporters, you kind of have to wonder if this ‘inadvertent slip ups’ are really a mistake or just smart politics. Is it an attempt to show the American public that while their beloved leader is gentle and less confrontational that in private he is still a bulldog? I mean, it does make you wonder.
Wayne Fields, a political scientist at Washington University in St. Louis, said Bush is unlikely to take heat at home for his remarks. ( USA Today Story )
Okay so maybe I am a bit skeptical of this and American politics but let’s give Karl Rove credit, he keeps getting this guy elected and what better way to slam a nation and political opponents than through an open microphone? Think about it, about how he has used the United Nations and yet managed to damage its reputation by his remarks about Kofi Annan?
Bush also could be heard questioning Annan’s diplomatic strategy and suggesting that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would soon be traveling to the Middle East. ( USA Today Story )
Tell me that isn’t for local consumption and plays directly into America’s distrust of the United Nations? As mentioned in Erotic Ramblings, this sure doesn’t seem to be an accident but more of a political ploy to use the media to their own advantage. I think we all know Bush’s view on the media, like the New York Times.
You might think I am being paranoid but come on, an open microphone incident right after a previous one by the Secretary of State? Somehow I just can’t believe this is an accident. Not even Bush is that stupid nor are the people around him. Sure they might be out of touch but they aren’t totally daft.
