Words are bandied about so much these days that it makes you wonder at times, if the media truly has a grip on reality or are merely trying to sell advertising. Frankly I buy into the latter as I doubt if the media understands today that it’s obligation is to report the news, not attempt to influence decisions or thinking of its viewers.
For example, look at how CNN reports the conflict in the Middle East. Notice how it 9 out of 10 times begins with the devastation in Beirut? Then it cuts to a shorter shot or report about Israel? In short it makes it seem like the Israelis are taking less of a hitting or that it is somehow less than in Beirut.
No doubt that Lebanon is suffering, but for me it is simply a result of an ineffective nation that choosed to wage a war that was unnecessary. Yes, in so many ways they attempted to appease Hezbollah rather than implement the United Nations resolution of several years ago, and worse seem upset with the current resolution, even though they expect the world and Israel to accept their solution, which is that they state they will add their army to being a buffer between Israel and Hezbollah.
Like where were they two or so years ago? Hiding? Training? or having a flafel and coffee?
What Lebanon is experiencing right now is a Direct result of appeasement polcies and inaction. Had the Lebanese government placed 15000 troops in the southern sector years ago, had they actively attempted to disarm Hezbollah, none of this would be happening today.
The world reports it but slants it towards poor Lebanon. Let us not forget, the current government includes Hezbollah members and like they can be trusted?
There really is no doubt that Hezbollah has used the time to rearm and better train and equip itself while they were supposedly being disarmed. And now Israel is expected to allow the same thing to happen again? Only a fool would accept that nonsense, and somehow I don’t see the Israeli’s as being fools or buying into the United Nations bullshit. Too many dead have seen to that I think.
