Interesting question given how so many that oppose Gays also call themselves Good Christians or People of God. So I wonder, what does the divinity think of all that is being said in HIS name? Is he happy or pissed? Is another flood coming as mankind continues to take his words and twist them to their own purposes?
I read the article by a 30 year practising Priest again, title “Is It Natural To Be Gay” over at Gay Talk and it continues to amaze me at how simple it really is. If you believe in God, then all of mankind was created by him, sinner and saint alike. Yet many people still think we choose this lifestyle, but hell, let’s play devils advocate for a second.
What if it was true, and we did somehow or other choose this lifestyle?
In my 51 years no one has asked me if I wanted to be Gay or not.
No one asked me to decide if I wanted to prefer other men over woman, it just came to me, so again, how did I choose this?
Before I was born, did God offer me a choice? DId he say Ian, wanna be Gay or Straight and I said Gay? Somehow I don’t think so, and yet many think we had that choice. When?
Even if we did make that choice, does that give any of these religious zealots the right to deny us equal rights or to hold chairty & compassion back from us? Did Christ himself not tell his disciples to bring him the shunned, the sick for they needed him the most? If true, then how can the Falwell’s or the Bush’s of this world continue to deny us what is readily available to HIS followers?
Frankly I don’t see how this can be a choice. I really don’t as science does seem to lean toward there being a Gay Gene in theĀ bodies DNA. So obviously that comes when we are conceived, again proving that this isn’t a choice. Still if it was a choice, why would anyone want to be a part of a group that is hated, threatened, and abused so openly?
In “Turn The Other Cheek” some bigshot claims being gay also means being over sensitive. Means we are too angry and so it is hard to show us compassion or chaiity. Yet it is his denial of us being God’s Children just like he is, that makes one angry. To claim we choose this is infuriating because we all know, deep inside, that it isn’t a choice we made. No one asked us or gave us an opportunity to say No, we are as God made us.
Maybe that is part of what scares non Gays so much.
