Christmas is nearly here, couple of days left so Merry Christmas to those who believe, Happy Holidays to those who have other beliefs. Here is hoping that 2007 is a kindler and more humane year than the one’s past, especially 2006.
I suppose I am a dreamer, because I honestly do believe in those things, in faith and in compassion. I have a naive sense that as we are all Children of God, that eventually we will find once more his message of love and understanding. Something I think the current Pope has totally lost. Not misplaced, but lost but then, that assumes he had it to begin with. Somehow I don’t think that Pope Benedict ever had true faith, or true compassion.
Perhaps he lost it when serving Hitler or maybe it was just never something he found in his life. Hard to know really and yet here he sits today, rallying the faithful against equality, against self preservation even. Once more Pope Intolerance has opened his mouth to show his disdain and hatred for a minority. As Hitler and the world had the Jews to beat down, to attack, this Pope has lashed out at Muslims and has kept up a constant barrage against Homosexuals.
Now he has used his Christmas Speech to warn the world on this day of celebration about the dismal queers that threaten his hold on people. He has used the excuse of Christ’s birth to rally bigots and racists the world over to fight against giving Gays the same civil rights that others have, in order to protect his own narrow minded view of what marriage is. He shovels disdain on nature itself, and on God’s own master plan with his constant disparaging remarks about people he doesn’t even know. All in the name of his GOD.
(Vatican City) Pope Benedict Friday fired a new broadside at same-sex couples warning that politicians who vote to recognize gay and lesbian unions were tampering with nature. (story)
Maybe I have it wrong. I mean I always thought that Christ’s message was one of inclusion, of seeking out those shunned by society and giving them the Love of the true Heavenly Father because they were the ones most in need of it. Nowhere did I ever hear about PRE CONDITIONS for that ‘salvation’ or ‘love’. Yet here is his pontiff, his leader on earth doing the exact opposite. Kind of makes you wonder, just what did Christ die for on the Cross?
It is one thing to disagree, to even oppose a lifestyle, a quirk even of nature. It is quite another to foster racism and hatred in the name of GOD. Somehow that just seems more Anti God than Pro, yet here is the Pope urging people to hate, to discriminate against others in HIS name. At this time of all times, it is the ultimate in hypocrisy I think to spew hatred and racism against any minority. Surely that isn’t what Christ was sent on earth to leave as his legacy, but here is Pope Benedict doing just that. Tarnishing the image many have of GOD and it makes one wonder if that in itself, is one reason organized religion is failing its people.
He said that those who support gay unions endorse “dismal theories” that strip all relevance from the masculinity and femininity of the human being as though it were a purely biological issue.” (story)
Not sure what he is basing his racism on, or his hatred for that matter. I mean I love David not because of the sex, but because our spirits share a common need to be with each other. It isn’t that he’s good in bed or I am, it is about waking up to each other, to sharing our thoughts, our hopes and dreams that makes us a couple. We enjoy the presence of the other, and we relish the closeness our being together gives us. There are no others we feel that way about.
David isn’t a queen or flamer, but even if he was, so what? It isn’t his ability to please me in bed that makes us care for each other. It isn’t the size of his dick that makes me want to protect him from others, or to share a new story idea with. It isn’t my experience in bed that makes him run home to tell me how his day went. Nor is it anything sexual that drives me or him, to simply cuddle and enjoy a movie together. It is that we have a deep need for the other, and only when we are together, do either of us feel complete.
So how does those feelings make me or David less masculine or feminine? We cry, we laugh, we get angry, and every other emotion you can think of, we experience. How does David being my soul mate in any way stop Stephen Harper from being masculine or make his wife less feminine? Our Marriage effects no one elses, it diminishes no one and yet this is what Christ’s Messenger on Earth tells the people. It wasn’t Christ’s message, and it sure as hell isn’t GOD’s message either.
Man was created in HIS image, so the bible claims. Begs the question then why the Pope and other racists like him hate Gays so much. After all, we weren’t born in a test tube, but were conceived from flesh and blood like any other child of GOD. None of us were born in the depths of Hell and yet this Pope seems to think we were. It is unreal that at this time, when people should be reminded of what Christ’s true message was, that once more His Holiness has shown, that the ideas and values he subscribes to are the same one’s that Adolph Hitler believed in.
Perhaps in 2007, this will all change and once more the messages of Hope, of Faith, of Love will once more rise up and take prominence. Somehow I doubt it, but as I said, I am an optimist and yes, naive too, but hell, its how I was made. So while the Pope uses his Christmas Message to spew hatred, I will take this opportunity to say that when I die, when I pass on, I look forward to discussing this face to face with the Pontiff, because unlike him, I believe GOD loves us all and will bring us all HOME TO HIM…. even Pope Benedict.
