There is a great deal of talk about Family in the battle for GLBT to gain equality under the law. You have people, from the Pope down to the President and everyone in between, talk about how it is sin, or against the natural order of things. Yet they all come down to talking about family, how gay couples are somehow less than a straight couple is, that somehow gay couples cannot raise children, because it takes a man and a woman to do it right.
I suppose a 60% divorce rate doesn’t cause any ill effects on children, now does it?
People rally to ban our civil rights, calling it protecting their religious freedoms, calling it everything but what it truly is, Racism. These groups like ‘Focus on the Family’ make it clear that being Gay is a choice, not a fact of nature. While it is fine for them to have their opinion on what medical science claims otherwise is one thing, and is their right too, it is another thing to make their misconceptions, this ignorance, a fact.
Disinformation is a key tool in the hands of bigots and racists. They use it to justify their erroneous positions on reality, but even if they are right, does that give them the right to force their will on us and on innocent children? Yet is their supposed aim to Protect Children that drives them, or so they say. I wonder though, is it really that or is it that they see their hold on the minds and hearts of children being erroded from their grasp? Is it that they want absolute power or that they truly do believe that a Loving God hates Homosexuals that he wants them to bully and abuse queers?
When these people talk about ‘values’ and ‘family’ I cringe and yes, I cry too. It is a sad state of affairs when lying and deceit are traits embraced by these people. When they distort the truth, such as being Gay is a choice not an act of nature, they are in fact lying to the very people they want to protect, children. They create confusion and promote hatred because they assail kids who are gay, simply because they place no value on a gay person. To them, Gays are evil and not worthy of being called human. That is why they race around to promote their take on values, where dishonesty, lies, cheating, & hatred, are the traits they not only embrace, but worship.
They deny that all people are entitled to their opinion, their beliefs. They talk about Democracy and Freedom and in the same breath denegrade a lifestyle they disapprove of. They call it religious freedom while at the same time forcing their beliefs on others who don’t buy their crap. Values? Those aren’t values worthy of any person, and yet they take the high moral road, citing scientific studies as the gospel when in fact, those studies tell a totally different story.
They deny the facts and twist the truth to force us to believe in them, quoting words that we don’t even know were ever written. The bible is a translation of a language no one knew at the time, words were guessed at and yet these people call it the uncontested words of GOD.
Just as those who believed the earth was flat, these religious zealots persecute anyone who opposes them. Freedom? or Tyranny?
If they truly believe in some high moral code, why then do they oppose protecting children who are bullied and subject to violence in schools, simply because they are different?
If they truly believe being Gay is a choice, why then do they degrade those who choose to be gay? Because their religious belief says its bad? Isn’t that the same religious belief that says adultry is wrong and a sin?
