Well I had a few free minutes, so when the phone rang and it was one of those automated telemarketing firms, the one that your credit is at risk, but not to worry calls, I decided to have some fun for a change. I mean why get angry, and as I have repeatedly asked to be taken off their phoning list, I still get the damn calls.
So this time, I hit the button to talk to a live person, to get more information. Now to begin with, I feel sorry for the guy, sort of. On the other hand, if the company would provide him with lists of people who don’t mind being interrupted, his/her job would be easier. However, instead he got me for just over 7 minutes.
I made him work too. He wanted to know what credit card I wanted to get a better rate on, so told him Amex. He asked what I was paying, told him 11% and then he wanted to know how much I owed on it. I told him no, he was calling to give me a lower rate, did it matter how much was on the card? He said no, and proceeded to say I’d get 6.9% for life.
I said what if the rates went down, was I stuck at his 6.9% and he said well yes. I said that didn’t sound good, was like one of those fly by night mortgages. He didn’t like that, then asked again how much I owed. I said what’s that got to do with anything, and he couldn’t give an answer, then wanted to know if I was interested. I said yes, and he then asked again what I owed. Told him wasn’t his business, he was supposed to be selling me a lower rate, and did it matter what I owed, and you should have heard him.
It was priceless listening to him sputter, and try not to curse on the phone, and eventually he said oh never mind, to hell with it, and hung up.
Damn I feel good. Now I wonder, think he’ll report the call and have me taken off the call list?
