They sure can talk the talk, but when it comes to action, The Democratic Party is really no different than the Republican Party. They only pass what benefits THEM, or their CORPORATE MASTERS, not what is Right, not what is BEST.
The Democrats have removed the attached Mathew Shepard Bill from the latest Spending Bill in order to insure the Defense Bill is past.
Thursday Senate conferees reluctantly agreed to strip the Shepard Act from the defense bill, realizing that they lack the votes to pass the measure. (source)
I never understood why it was attached to an Appropriations Bill to begin with, nor do I understand why it simply isn’t put forward on its own merits. At least that way, if Bush Vetoes the Legislation, people can see just how HOMOPHOBIC HE IS. It obviously wouldn’t help now, but sure as hell might help after 2008.
This is just the Democrats trying to get Gay Voter Support, when the truth is, they don’t give anymore of a damn about us than their Republican cronies do.
