If you follow the Democrat Race, on the news, you will invariably hear about how many women support Clinton, how many Blacks support Obama, and how the two candidates are fighting it out for them. Now, frankly shouldn’t the issue be about their conflicting policies on Health Care? Education? Jobs?
Seems to me that there is way too much emphasis being put on the fact that she is a woman (so they say) and he is a black man. I mean while that is an interesting historical notation, considering the USA record on race, on gender, but is that really the way to help put those issues aside? I mean is this an election to choose the Next President, or is it a race to see which minority gets to be top dog?
Seems to me that there still is a ‘racial divide‘ and that by the Media constantly harping on it, they only further it, not lessen its impact on daily life. I fail to understand the importance that the media puts on all these little tid bits. I mean does it really impact the average voter if they know what percent of blacks support Obama versus Clinton? Or how the Latino Community is voting? Does it change your mind on who to support if you find out that your age group are running to some other candidate?
And if it does, WHY?
Now I can fully understand a campaign wanting those details. It can help them figure out what areas to maybe target, to get better results from, but it sure as hell doesn’t amount to a hill of beans to the average voter. Nor should it. The question should be about what is that Blacks see in Obama that maybe Whites don’t, or should it even be about defining differences along racial, or gender, lines? I DON’T BELIEVE IT SHOULD, but hey, what do I know, I am queer, and neither Obama & Clinton are what I’d call Gay Friendly. Guess we just aren’t a big enough minority to warrant consideration.
