I guess it really isn’t just a ‘gay thing‘ but damn, sometimes a guy really does wonder. I mean take the recent hoopla over at one of the more popular Gay Webmaster Boards. (Not going to name names either) I mean it is like forums are becoming nothing but bitch fests, and come to think of it, not just the gay boards either.
As I commented on our No Bull Webmastering Forum, it just seems that when the rules are made up as you go, that chaos follows. It is worse when the Moderators exert their own agenda, instead of working for the Board Owner, and promote a sense of community.
Ever since I left the more Straight Forum, that I refer to as the KKK Forum, I have spent a lot of time browsing the two main Gay Webmaster Forums. Now both have had their share of drama, and yet frankly it just seems to be, that it comes from the more younger crowd. I wonder, is it because of age, or because today’s society is about Attack, rather than negotiation. I mean look at Bush, at how he attacks those who disagree, on a far grander scale than some piss ant forum.
The way both he and Clinton attack Obama simply because he believes in open dialogue first, not a military solution first, nor a threatening posture first. Both President Bush and Senator Clinton, along with Senator McCain, believe that confrontation, that bullying, that threats, are better than starting with discussion, as Senator Obama proposes.
Seems like that philosophy is being mirrored in our own society, even on the Forums. Sad really, because I think we can all learn more, if we put aside the personal agendas, the fear tactics, and just listen. Maybe then too, Gays wouldn’t need to be included in any Hate Crime Legislation, nor would any other minority.
