Off hand remarks can hurt, can tarnish a reputation too. The joke is not funny, when it perpetrates a falsehood, which is what Donny Osmond did, on Dancing With The Stars. His homophobic comment may go unpassed, but you know, this is what happens when religion tries to control every thought, every impulse, by human beings. We are not GOD, yet they shame us into thinking we should be. Shame on Donny Osmond for his remark, double shame on the Mormon Church for its fear of those who are different than them.

What is it about some, who think that only their rights are important? Doesn't it stand to reason that your rights are dependent on me having the same rights? Yet when it comes to same sex marriage, that doesn't happen to be the case. Instead of supporting the rights of all people, to enjoy civil benefits, many rant, rave, and holler, that it is somehow going to diminish their own rights. The exact opposite is true, but that somehow, doesn't seem to matter to these religious zealots, who really, are just trying to impose their own views, on everyone else.

Court of Appeals turns down the appeal by a marriage commissioner, claiming his religious freedoms weren't violated, when asked to perform a same sex marriage. Not sure if it was discrimination, and even wonder, why it went to court. I think sometimes we react too quickly, in taking things to court, that really, aren't about that. Rights are tricky things, but I believe we all need to get along, and accept, that differences exist, and nothing is just black and white. Especially when it comes to religion, and human rights.

The Iowa court ruling is not about Gay Rights, but is about insuring the rights of everyone, to believe, to worship, as they wish. It is more about insuring that churches like the Mormons, like the Catholics, can oppose homosexuality, as being a sin, within their own Church. It says one can believe as they wish, without being denied the same civil benefits, that others enjoy. It is in fact, protecting the very rights, of those who claim it doesn't. The ruling is a victory, for religious freedom, not just that gays can marry.
