The fight for equality will never end, because if it does, then equality will never be lasting. It is a constant struggle, and those who oppose it, such as the Catholic Church, the Mormons, the Republicans, do so because they are aware of what will happen if they don't keep fighting us. They will lose their power, they will lose their ability to control people and their money. Civil Rights, human liberties, exist because they are fought for, on a full time 24/7 basis. To get our rights, to keep our rights, we must continue the fight.

It is risky for those in Hollywood to support controversial topics, like same sex marriage and yet top artists, like Brad Pitt, and now Bruce Springsteen have done it. Makes one wonder why the political leadership who professes to support gay rights, is so silent on the subject. The Opposition sure isn't, and without any real leadership, it looks like hate is going to continue to win another round or two. Too bad that these so called leaders, have no real guts or inclination to doing what is right.

Stephen Harper and his conservatives obviously oppose gay rights. The refusal to fund the gay pride in Montreal is just the latest example of Harper's homophobia. And his timing was deliberate, to make it nearly impossible to find alternative funding. Thank you Stephen Harper, your racism will be noted come next election time.

When a government prefers to pander to the demands of a special interest, it may get elected again, but it helps weaken the very democratic fabric of its country. The Alberta Conservative Government has shown, it is more interested in getting elected, than in protecting the rights of all of its citizens. It has pandered to the special religious groups, to secure funding, to secure votes, while helping spread hatred, racism, and prejudices. All in the name of getting elected.

Gay families attended the Easter Egg hunt at the White House, which is nice symbolic gesture, but will it be enough to convince Congress to repeal DADT & DOMA? Will it be enough to get the Mathew Shepard Bill passed? Will President Obama even request Congress to do those things, or will it be like Bill Clinton, all show, and no action. Can Obama wield enough power, to get Congress to do the right thing, to insure equal rights for everyone, or will it fall on deaf ears, as it has in the past?
