I guess us Pesky Gays need to get back into our closet because gee, the Republicans sure don’t like us and if they get their way, I suppose it would also mean that Americans don’t like us either, or they are too frightened by some make believe Agenda that keeps getting touted by some Politicians.

I suppose with just a little over a week to go before the mid-term elections, the rhetoric is being ramped up in an attempt to recover lost ground (see story). Course, I happen to think it goes beyond that, and isn’t just for Republicans either. I mean there is just something in the air that smells when you have politicians attempting to use Gays as their whipping boys (see comment) or in the turn around by Senator Clinton (see story) as stepping stones for support for political gains.

What is scary though is that there really shouldn’t be all this hatred or anger against Gays, if one truly believes in Democracy and Equality. Only Bigots and Racists look for minorities to blame for their problems, and that is exactly what is happening in America today. If it isn’t the Illegal Immigrants (see Gay Talk comment) then it is us Gays who are the cause of it all, from the war in Iraq, to the impending defeat of the Republicans on the 7th.

It totally blows me away at how these supposed people of Traditional Values and Ethics spew hatred and point at others for the problems or character flaws in their own kind. I didn’t tout Mark Foley as a great leader,  it was people like Hastert and Bush and their supporters. I mean if they all knew he was gay, why then the sudden denouncing of him or pointing at him as one reason why Gays aren’t entitled to equality? Doesn’t make sense unless they had him as their own personal whipping boy or some other nefarious plan.

Course it doesn’t make sense either that here is a party dedicated to denying equality to Gays and some Gays actually not only support this party, but actually hold office in it. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. It obviously isn’t about making changes from within, because if anything, the anger and hatred against Gays has increased, not lessened! 

What is happening?

I mean when you have people supporting Cheney who thinks torture is okay? I mean come on people, what the hell makes you different than Hezbollah or Hamas or Osama if you condone the use of such tactics in the name of being protected? It doesn’t make sense.

To use a minority as the reason for your ills is no different. I mean there is NO GAY AGENDA (see comment) and as much as people like Bush or Harper think there is, it is in their own air filled brains. We simply want to exist with the same rights, same benefits that you have who are hetrosexual. It is no different than Blacks who wanted the right to marry Whites. If you love someone, care for them, you should be able to at least be accepted by your own government. That is all this is, not some secret plot to turn all young men into homosexuals. It isn’t to change your religion or alter your beliefs in what is right or wrong, but to simply have the same protection under the law that you enjoy.

How difficult is that to understand?

I wonder, how many have heard about the gay friendly church that is under attack by the IRS in the states? I am referring to the Episcopal church in Pasadena? The one that the IRS claims is mixing politics with religion?

A liberal Episcopal church that has been threatened with the loss of its tax-exempt status over an anti-war sermon delivered just days before the 2004 presidential election said Thursday it will fight an IRS order to turn over documents on the matter.( full story )

Seems to me that this could be a double edged sword. I mean what does constitute a church mixing into politics? Does a sermon on the need for tougher border protection vs a sermon about good vs evil make a church political or not? Or how about the church in Chicago I think that is harboring an illegal immigrant who is on the list for deportation? Why isn’t that church also under scrutiny?

I just don’t understand this. I mean there seems to be a lot of double standards being applied and I can’t put my finger on it these days. I mean the Religious Right constantly interfere with politics, I mean just look at their push to define marraige being between a man and a woman only, yet those churches aren’t being threatened with losing their tax status. Makes one wonder a bit as to why this Gay Friendly church is under attack.

Civil Rights have been lead not by government but from the pulpit so how did those churches survive a witch hunt from the IRS? I mean if no sermon can be political or classed as being political, how did African American’s ever get from the back of the bus to the front? (Though not in some parts it seems, like Lousianna) So I wonder, just how separate do we insist on making religious orders or is it like soft campaign money? As long as you don’t mention the candidate you can advertise all you want.

Surely a Church sermon is not grounds for removing a tax shelter? However I wonder that if the IRS is successful here, could it not be used aganst the same morons trying to stifle debate by using it against the conservative churches that rail against abortion, same sex marraige, and immigration? Somehow this is a slippery slope the IRS is going down and again, I have to wonder, just what is motivating them? Could this in fact be Political in itself?

Makes one wonder.

Today is called Labor Day and is the tradional starting date for American Politics to heat up as they race to the finish line come November. And it seems this year once more Gay Issues will top the list of hate measures on the November Ballot. Yes HATE MEASURES because what else do you call it when someone tries to deny you equality based on your race, color, creed, and/or sexuality?  Bigotry comes to mind, as does Racism, but HATE seems to fit it a bit better I think.

Hell look at the stories being reported these days. You have Gubnatorial candidates arguing who supports gay marraiges and who doesn’t, or you have people arguing whether a civil union is even appropriate for two members of the same gender. And this is what you call Democracy?  More like the real Facists are in politics in the States, not just in the Middle East.

You have the Colorado candidates flopping all over the place ( see full story ) and the Democrats wonder why they have trouble getting elected in a majority position? I mean either you believe in equal rights or you don’t, and if you do, then YES you need to stand up for it, and maybe in the short term you will lose more than gain. But in the long term you will win, but there is the rub I think. Not enough politicians or political parties today are looking beyond the current election. They are not focused on doing what is right, but on trying to win.

There is a great deal of talk about values, like in Tennessee ( see full story ) and yet I wonder, what values do they mean? Is it that one about sucking up and ignoring what is right, or is it the value of placing more emphasis on winning than holding true to one’s beliefs? I gotta give the religious right fanatics credit, they are dangerous and bigots for the most part, but they at least stick to their guns. I mean even Bush is in troulbe with them for not doing more to isolate us queers.

Then too there is stories about Ms Harris in Florida and all that nonsense. I mean really so many people running for office, but instead of honest debate about the war or about poverty or immigration, the issue is once more about trying to fuel hatred by stupid amendments like in Virginia. Don’t these so called leaders understand that their comments only fuel hatred? I mean to compare being gay to bestiality is obscene, and to define marraige as only being between a man and woman based on the religious viewpoint is just as obscene. What I don’t understand is that most Americans you talk to all support Equal Rights, except for when it comes to Gay Marraige. I don’t get it, I mean if you support equality for all, why are Gays not included? Is it because Americans are still living in a prudish believe about sex being evil? Or some such antiquity?

The Beauprez campaign hopes Ritter’s statements will help diffuse statements by the Republican candidate for Lt. Governor that were widely distributed last month regarding an interview she gave in March to a PBS station in which she compared homosexuality to bestiality. ( see article )

Sex is sex, and I would wager that many so called normal straight men do a damn site more than just hump the woman in the missionary style. So why the huge hangup on sex between two guys?  Hell if you look at most straight adult sites, you will generally find a great deal of girl on girl type comments and photos. Now I don’t know, but isn’t that same gender sex? Just because a guy is involved doesn’t make it hetrosexual, or I guess in this instance it does. Least that’s the American excuse.

Still it appears that Gay is once again going to be the issue that might decide many close races. Frankly I think that if the Democrats would quit trying to split hairs, and started to discuss the issues instead of using fear tactics or whining, they actually could win huge, but they keep putting their foot in their mouths. Either you support something or you don’t. I mean the Democrats bitch about Bush’s signing statements, then make comments like they support the definition of marraige as being between a man and a woman, with some possible exceptions. Like huh?

Many claim Hilary is the next candidate and even some say President, but I wonder, what really will be the difference between her and anyone else? I mean are her policies any different than Bush’s? Does anyone even know? Right now there is NO LEADER like Kennedy in the 60′s or Rooosevelt in the Depression. No Reagan and certainly no Truman. So all that is left is Hilary? Surely somewhere in the United States, there has to be someone with some leadership abilities other than Bush clones?

So NBA superstar Charles Barkley is sounding off and its interesting actually. I mean he took no crap as a player and now he seems to be taking no crap as he mulls over the idea of seeking the Democrat nomination for Gubnatorial Candidate for Alabama. ( see 365Gay article )

What I find interesting is that he actually makes some sense. I mean let’s face it, the Democrats under Hilary and her group seem intent on attacking Bush but that is about it. I mean they offer no alternative to Bush or the Republicans and haven’t for years offered anything more than a few sound bites.

“They’re criticizing a guy who can’t run again, who can’t get fired,” Barkley said during an appearance on “CMI: The Chris Meyers Interview,” which will air on Sunday night on Fox SportsNet. “So they spent the last two years criticizing him instead of saying, ‘Some things aren’t right. This is our game plan.’ And now we’re two years away from the election, and we have no solutions and no front-runner.” ( full story )

I mean yes he support gay marraige, but he talks some common sense, something that has been missing in American Politics for several years, if not decades. I mean if you want the job to replace someone, no matter who, would seem to me that you would at least have some clue as to how you would do things differently. So far the Democrats haven’t said word one really about how they would handle anything differently.

Whether it is the War in Iraq, Illegal Immigration, or Border Security or even FEMA, they simply point out the failures of Bush. But in all fairness, Barkley is right in that Bush isn’t running anymore, and it isn’t all just his fault. He had help in the Senate and Congress, and no one seems to understand that. If they do, they sure don’t say much about it.

I hear how many call this a Do Nothing Congress, and then I listen as these outraged voters say they are more than likely not going to go Vote. Like that is going to help how? Put more republicans back? Someone worse than Bush?

He does talk common sense, I mean I have said it before here too, that religion is about love not hate. Yet it seems that all these religious types do is bad mouth everyone, and hold them up for ridicule, and how is that being religious?

“Religious people in general are so discriminatory against other people, and that really disturbs me,” he said. “My idea of religion is we all love and respect. We all sin, but we still have common decency and respect for other people. So right now I’m struggling with my idea of what religion is.” ( full article )

Listening to him when he played and his mouth, I never really thought too much about him. Mind you now, given how he has spoken out this way, I would say he might make a good Governor. He sure as hell would liven the debates up I think and in a good way. Instead of bashing, he might actually push forward some new ideas, and isn’t that what a candidate should do?

Look at the ads both parties run today. Anyone got a clue as to who will do what and how? Instead all you see and hear, is how bad the other is. Makes no sense, unless everyone who is a voter is too stupid to know who is screwing up what. Like Congress calls it Guest Worker Program, and suddenly when the nation gets pissed off, some now call it Amnesty which they oppose.

Okay fine, so what will you do in place of the Guest Worker Program? Isn’t that what you should talk about if you are a candidate? Shouldnt you be talking about how you will secure the borders instead of telling everyone how the current guy isn’t?

Given that over 1 million illegal aliens enter the USA yearly, I have a hunch most citizens know that the borders aren’t secure. Question is, when will they be and how?

The Democrats think that the troops should all come home from Iraq, but what will they do in place of having troops there? How will they battle the insurgents and secular violence that is happening over there? Nice to suggest you set a timetable to bring the troops home, but what are the plans for if the violence isn’t curtailed by then?

Isn’t it time for serious people to step forward instead of what now passes as political candidates?

The news has been full of the whole Immigration debacle in the United States. From National Guard troops who themselves were illegal immigrants to George Bush admonishing immigrants to become assimilated, and yet no one really seems to comprehend the fact that, a great deal of this illegal immigration is not the fault of the people coming, but those filling them with false hope.

I am all for secure borders. However, I also think that when it comes to immigration, that there be honesty in the policy, not subterfuge as there is now. Too many false promises exist that plants ideas into heads of those who are desperate.

There is also the profiteers

Is there any doubt that these are the one’s who create the majority of illegal alien crossings? Yet these are the one’s left alone by the Immigration services for the most part. I mean let’s be honest here, if the local farmers association needs more migrant workers, do you really think they go looking in Small Town USA for the workers or travel to Poor Town Mexico to bring in a bunch at a tenth the cost?

It is big business and the risks really seem minimal to those who hire these illegals. I mean what farmer isn’t going to know that if he hires a crew of foreign looking workers, at 1/10th the price that they are illegals?

I mean if you want to use the excuse of not knowing, then you should be wearing the dunce cap and letting everyone know just how friggin stupid you are.

Is it any different than going into a bar and some guy coming up offering you a carton of cigarettes for $5? Like tell me you don’t know they are stolen. Or how about the guy willing to sell you a brand new colour wide screen television for a quarter of the retail price? Like you know fucking well its stolen, so how come you can’t tell when a guy offers to provide you labourers for 1/10th the normal wage, you can’t tweak that its illegal immigrants?

Want to make it harder for illegal immigrants to get into the country? Make damn sure those people who bring them in, pay the price for it when caught. Put them in jail, not the immigrants and you know, there just might a whole lot less of them illegal immigrants coming in.

Course that would mean doing the right thing.

Too bad American Politicians can’t do that. 

A person who doesn’t live in the United States has to wonder what it is that makes the United States do what it does. I mean seriously, are Americans just plain stupid or are they all off on some weird unknown drug?

Granted the USA is a big country. It is one of the largest consumer nations there is and yet does that in and of itself give them special status in the brotherhood of independent nations? I mean simply because Americans consume so much, does it give them special rights to bully and do things without anyone else’s opinion mattering?

Is it that Americans are simply stupid and don’t know that in reality there are 3.75 billion more people out there than what is in their own borders? Are they that insulated that they don’t get the simple fact that they can’t have everything their way simply because they are the United States?

Today the US Congress received a report from the State Department slamming Canada as having too ‘liberal’ of an immigration policy. The State department claims that Canada is a safe haven for terrorists and is a source of income for these terror groups fundraisers.

So let me see, the IRA when it was in full force got most of its funding through the United States. Castro was funded by the United States not Canada. The current regime in Iran is one brought in by Jimmy Carter. The deposed Saadam Husein is one kept in power by the United States. Canadian banks are more restricted than their US Counterparts but we are a safe haven. I am sorry, but really, are Americans this stupid?

Or it is just out and out arrogance?

So who let American airliners land in Canada minutes after the terror attack of 9/11? Mexico?

Who was the first to join and support the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan? Cuba?

It is amazing to watch how so many Americans actually are believing the bullshit being fed to them. Either they are truly stupid or just so arrogant that they don’t comprehend that the world is getting fed up with being bullied. It makes no difference if the Bully is a communist state or a dictatorial state or the United States.

We are just fed up with being Bullied !!!

The problem is, that by the time Americans realize this, it could be too late. With such religious bias as is being exhibited, it is a miracle that the United States hasn’t suffered more terror attacks. Instead their allies are the one’s suffering. Britain for example and Israel for another.

Yet it doesn’t phase the Americans.

For any democratic nation to blatantly interfere in another nations domestic affairs, is just wrong. You can call it whatever you want, but America, you are rapidly turning into a facist state.

Look at your own immigration laws before casting stones at Canada.

Look at your own religious intolerence America before casting stones at Islamic nations like Iran or Syria.

Look to your own record of treaty violations before you cast stones at Canada or Mexico or Peru or others. You have the worst record for honoring treaties than any nation, and that includes the old Soviet empire.

So is it just stupidty or is it just out and out arrogance?
