It really amazes me, how any religious group, that professes to love God, can pour millions of dollars into fighting civil rights for a minority. Yet that is exactly what the Evangelicals, Mormons, & Catholics did in California, to deny gays the right to be married. They spend a small fortune to deny a small minority the right to proclaim their love for another, simply because they love the same gender. How is that religious, how is that following God’s plan?
Harper wins another minority, but what is worse, is that hate wins another round. It is hate that won for Harper, hate that has gay author Alex Sanchez from speaking in a New Brunswick school district, and the multitudes rally behind those who hate for hates sake. They rally around bigotry, around intolerance, because it is easier than fighting it. They join the ranks of the fearful, because they don’t understand differences, and fear it, so they join in the chorus of hate, and at the same time, reward those who show them who to hate.
While it may not happen often in Canada, it does happen. People get attacked because they are Gay, but at least in Canada they are protected under the Hate Crime Laws, something most Gays DO NOT ENJOY IN THE USA. It makes you wonder, when did Government forget its obligation is to protect ALL OF ITS CITIZENS? Hate Crime Laws shouldn’t be needed, but they are, and yet Bush and Republicans refuse to acknowledge that Gays need protecting. When do the American people wake up, and stop promoting racism, under the guise of religion?
The recent uproar over Senator Obama’s remarks about small town America only goes to show at what heights the Media and the Clinton’s will go to deny a Black Man his due. There is no doubt that a double standard, based on Race, is showing in this latest bullshit regarding Senator Obama’s comments.
