Up here there was a major bust of CP, of which I have no sympathy for.

It is interesting though, considering how our George Bush Jr. (Stephen Harper) just also passed his new crime legislation in Parliament. It is where he proposes to limit the authority of Judges, by introducing mandatory sentences, similar to those in the United States.

My issue with all this ‘conservatives tough on crime‘ bullshit, is that they are willing to lock up terrorists without trial, are willing to put drug dealers away for long time periods, but yet when it comes to those who molest children, the penalties are like probation for first timers, or a few months in the local jail.

I don’t know, but in my warped mind, those who molest children, are far more dangerous than even a terrorist is. While a Terrorist can create fear, can even kill scores of people, a child molester scars a child for life. The ramification of such abuse can effect their entire life, as well as those around them.

Death is final, but when you scar someone emotionally, & mentally, it is a living hell, and I don’t know, but surely that is worth than being dead. Even if you are one who loses someone to death, you do manage to get past it, to cope. But if you are molested, you never get over it, so why do these conservatives insist they are tough on crime?

Fact is, it is a lot harder to deal with WHY a person commits a crime, than to simply lock them up and forget about it. To be really TOUGH ON CRIME, one has to be willing to admit that there are social problems that exist, that impact people in such a way as to make them act out. As for those who molest, effort has to be made into WHY THEY DO IT, so we can better Protect Children. Ignoring it, as the Conservatives Do, is not a solution, nor is it being tough on crime.

Truth is, they are as weak as hell on real crime. They are simply using what gets them political brownie points, while ignoring the needs of our most precious asset.

Our Children.

The highly touted and proclaimed program to ship cheap drugs to needy countries, has yet to ship a single pill. Stephen Harper has shown exactly how much he cares about preventing disease, by his inability to follow thru on the drug program for African nations. Instead of making the process simple, he has mired it in a bunch of red tape, that keeps the Drug Companies happy.

After all, they don’t have to ship anything until the ‘paper process‘ is complete, and so far, only Rwanda has begun the process to sign up.

Kind of makes you wonder if it is Corporate Profits over HEALTH, but then, that really is a no brainer. It seems that the ‘Conservative Movement‘ whether it be here in Canada or the United States isn’t about being RESPONSIBLE STEWARDS, but about STICKING IT TO WHOEVER CAN’T PAY.

With the threat of a Federal Election looming in March, one hopes the Canadian People will see through the tissue of lies that Stephen Harper and his fellow Conservatives have weaved, that their so called compassion is as phony as is their patriotism.
